Bach: The Christmas Oratorio

Celebrate the holidays with the joyful opening cantatas of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, led by Jaime Martín and featuring singers from the Los Angeles Master Chorale alongside soprano Amanda Forsythe. Known for her radiant tone and expressive clarity, Forsythe brings warmth and brilliance to Bach’s soaring vocal lines, illuminating the music’s sense of wonder and celebration.

These first three cantatas trace the story of the Nativity, from the birth of Jesus to the annunciation to the shepherds. In true Baroque fashion, the music is alive with color, movement, and celebration, brought to life through bright trumpets, ringing timpani, hunting horns, and richly colored winds that capture the joy and pageantry of the season.
