Saturday Mornings At The Opera: Open Door Days

Presented by Los Angeles Opera

Discover opera with your little ones

Welcome to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, where we open the doors to creativity and adventure every day. Our performers will share how LA Opera creates magic and take you on a world tour through famous operas set in France, Spain, Italy, and even California.

Introduce your young adventurers to opera with a show written just for kids, plus interactive arts workshops where they can sing, dance, act, and craft one-of-a-kind souvenirs. You'll even meet some of our local arts partners and discover more opportunities for your family to bond over the arts, right here in LA.

The program is designed for children 3 to 9 years old (but we welcome all ages). All guests, regardless of age, must have a ticket to attend the performance.

About Open Door Days

Step into our opera house and explore the art of musical storytelling, from the conductor leading the orchestra to the supertitles that help you follow along with the drama. Little ones learn to listen with open ears, open eyes, and open minds while our performers regale us with some of opera's greatest hits from Bizet's Carmen, Verdi's Rigoletto, Mozart's The Magic Flute, and Puccini's La Bohème and The Girl of the Golden West.

Saturday Mornings at the Opera is a great opportunity to bond with your little ones and practice creativity together. Learn why musical experiences are so vital for young people in this episode of Behind the Curtain, featuring early childhood music expert Dr. Nita Baxani.
