Presented by New Performance Traditions

Pandit Partha Bose and his sitar

Experience the beauty and exhilaration of Indian classical music in our intimate studio.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear internationally acclaimed sitarist Pandit Partha Bose during his 2026 U.S. tour.

A master of North Indian classical music, Partha creates performances that unfold from quiet, meditative beauty into dazzling improvisation and exhilarating rhythmic energy—all experienced up close in the Dresher Ensemble Studio.

Partha began studying sitar at age six with Guru Pandit Monoj Shankar of the Maihar Gharana in Kolkata. What began as a childhood pursuit developed into an international career spanning more than five decades, with performances at major festivals on five continents.

Carrying forward the “Maihar Magic” associated with masters such as Ravi Shankar and Nikhil Banerjee, Partha has received the Nikhil Banerjee Memorial Award and the titles Sangeet Ratna and Vadya Shiromani. For him, music is a “language of the soul that reminds us of our shared humanity.”

He will be joined by Bay Area tabla artist Sudhakar Vaidyanathan, a longtime disciple of Padma Shri Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri. Sudhakar has performed at Davies Symphony Hall, the BRM Ragas Live Festival, the Festival of Tabla, and the Ali Akbar College of Music.
