New Ballet (San Jose's only professional ballet company) and Symphony San Jose (Silicon Valley's professional orchestra) present “My Very First Nutcracker”, a special 55-minute production of this cherished holiday ballet created especially for families with toddlers, preschoolers, and young children.
Four performances of the one-act production with take place in the beautifully decorated California Theatre, December 20–27, presented in partnership with History San Jose. It tells the well-loved story of Clara and her beloved Nutcracker, while featuring historical references to the heritage that has made Santa Clara Valley the center of innovation it is today.
MY VERY FIRST NUTCRACKER features a festive holiday party at which Uncle Nikola reveals his fascinating gifts. Kids will marvel at the historic San Jose Electric Light Tower rising magically above the streets of San Jose, and cheer on adorable mice and toy soldiers who compete to win a magic crown.
Free pre-concert festivities for young and old alike begin in the lobby one-hour before the curtain rises on the performance. They include holiday music performed live on the theatre’s grand pipe organ, costumed characters available for photos in magical fairytale settings, and a special “play zone” featuring Soft Bricks provided by Legoland© Discovery Center Bay Area giving young audiences even more opportunities to play, explore, and make lasting holiday memories.
